104: Failing Forward

EMBRACE FAILURE

What is failure? And why has it gotten a bad rap?

Most of us have gone through an education system that stigmatizes mistakes. Make mistakes, and you get low grades. Make enough mistakes, and you fail.

Failing earns you the label of loser, a person of low intelligence. If you accept the label, you step into a low status identity. That identity becomes the frame through which you view the world.

CHANGE THE FRAME

Refuse to see failure as something negative. Answer the question, “what is failure,” like this. Failure is an important necessary step on the road to success. You’ll be in great company.

Thomas Edison is a prime example of man who delighted in failure. On the subject of his many “failed” attempts to invent the light bulb, Edison said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

MINDSET – MINDSET – MINDSET

You may know exactly what the word mindset means. But until you experience the power of shifting your mindset, of changing your limiting beliefs (stories) to empowering ones, you won’t fully appreciate the meaning of mindset.

TODD PALMER

Today’s podcast guest is Todd Palmer. His story will nudge and inspire you to view the world through an empowering frame. His story will help you discover a mindset that fires you up and can make you unstoppable. Todd is a guy who failed forward to success. His answer to what is failure was always positive.

YOU WILL LEARN

  • How Todd turned massive debt into exciting opportunity
  • How to shift your thoughts from lack to abundance
  • How being a single parent can lead to enormous success
  • The power of life balance
  • Why DNA is more important that your resume

94: Choice Is Power

How can you step into leadership? First, you must learn to lead yourself; only then, can you lead others.

The most effective leaders do not lead by coercion or force. They lead by example; they inspire people to follow them.

Willard Barth is a strong effective leader. He developed his leadership in the front lines of life and business.

He fought personal demons and conquered them. He endured hardship that could have broken him and driven him to play the victim. He became a warrior sage instead.

Warrior sage is not an easily earned title. It isn’t won in the classroom. It’s one of the spoils of war on the battlefield of personal growth.

It is won by having the courage to choose one hundred percent responsibility. When you do that, you own your strengths and your weaknesses, your victories and defeats.

This interview with Willard Barth is for you if you want to learn valuable lessons about leadership, growth, and transformation.

Join us. I promise you enrichment and entertainment.

88: Murder Story

MURDER STORY

There are schools, and there are schools. Some are highly respected by society. They offer book learning, a competitive grading system, and a fast track to the top of the social ladder.

Some of these schools  have have higher prestige, status, and celebrity than others. A diploma or degree  from one of these institutions can open many doors that lead to respect, social acceptance, and wealth.

The street can also serve as a school. So can a prison. Your education in these hard knuckle schools will not earn you society’s blessings or certificates that open doors. But they can definitley give you a priceless education.

They can teach you survival and a profound understanding of human psychology,  They can unleash creativity. They can cultivate compassion; They can offer you hard won lessons of  great wisdom.

These schools can destroy you. If they don’t, they can forge integrity and strength of character and prepare you to enrich the world with your unique brand of authenticity and contribution.

Will Latif Little forged his character and special gifts on the streets of Philadelphia and in Holmesburg Prison, a terrifying penitentiary known as the Terradome to its inmates.

Will Little served ten years in the Terradome for murder. His own tagline describes him as a man who went from convicted murderer to committed life coach. Here are some of his accolades:

  • He leaves people forever changed.
  • No one forgets Will Little.
  • He’s a category of one.

Those words do not express unearned praise. Will played a high stakes game to win them. It was a life and death game.

Will emerged from prison, a wise, loving, intuitive, and compassionate person with a gift for healing others. He heals damaged and disturbed psyches; he heals souls.

He is an author, speaker, and mentor to troubled youth.

Give yourself the special gift of hearing this authentic inspiring man on today’s episode of Change Your Story, Change Your Life.
